Looking for Web Sites to Assist/Inspire with Home Interior Design?

After nearly 29 years of marriage, I am finally divorcing and striking out on my own. That is a tale onto itself. At any rate, I be buying a home (detached single family) in the very near future in the metropolitan Washington DC area. While I may ultimately hire an interior designer, I would prefer to explore the possibilities of style and color. So, I would appreciate recommendations for websites that present a variety of styles, and ideally allow manipulation of furniture, rugs, accessories, and of course color. I want to avoid the "bachelor pad" look but am not looking for something too fancy or contrived. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

1. Hire an interior decorator. Cheaper. For a site, hgtv.com is the BEST. Forums, patterns, shopping info, etc.
