- They take a part that has been designed and make drawings that can be sent to a manufacturing facility. The part will need dimensions, notes on the material to use, notes on heat treating and/or surface finishes, and the part must be given a name and a number for tracking.
- Well there are alot of different types of Drafty's. Civil, Structural, Hydraulic, Mechanical, electrical, architectural, marine, mining, landscaping, facades, environmental, interior design... the list just goes on and on.Being more specific would help, but the duties of the drafty is and has been for a while in rapid change, 'draftsperson' can be anything from a CAD monkey to design leader, the majority of drafty's are more design hands on these days, and they are responsible for the majority if not the entire design process, with final signing and checking being left to those with the proper documentation, so basically they design, draw (usually using computer aided design) check (and recheck) and issue drawings is the duties of drafty along with liaising with clients, contractors, authorities etc... hope this helped
