Architectural Designs

Career question?

Currently studying for an AS in architectural drafting. I want to go into school after this and start on a BS in architecture. I drift away from this the more and more I hear about how difficult it is and the low percentage of people who get through the program. Would the transition be hard from the schooling I'm at now to an architecture degree? I really just want to design houses, buildings etc. what else could I study or get into?

  1. don't be afraid! people will always want to scare you off because they don't want you to reach your goals. those who go through all this aren't any smarter than you. i'm sure you can make it.
  2. don't be scared.... As long as you keep your grades up it should be no problem.... since you did ask for other careers in designing how about web designing..
  3. I attended a community college for an AA degree before heading to a university for architecture. The transition was great and I was actually better prepared than most of my peers due to the community college education. Architecture is hard work, and very time comsuming. You will always have doubts and wonder if you are doing the right thing. The only thing I can tell you is that if you LOVE architecture, and this is what you want to do, then keep going cuz its worth it! Good luck!
