Is it possible to ask people I dont know if I can take pictures of their houses for my interior design blog?

I want to start a blog on interior design. However, I don't know a lot of people who have nice houses. Would it be possible if I ask people I don't know if I can take pictures of their spaces? Of course, I will write a formal letter of request and explain to them that I will feature their home in my blog. Is this acceptable in Filipino culture? I want to start a blog on interior design. I just want everyone to know that what I meant is just rooms, decor. I wouldn't show the outside of the house, doors, windows. But model houses are a good idea! I'm just concerned that there aren't that many of them.

  1. i dont think they will like it
  2. You can always ask but I think those people would be foolish to allow it. By taking pictures of the interior of their homes and posting them on a blog which is accessible by just about anyone is opening up your house to be cased by people they don't know, a thief or a burglar (or worse) could plan a home invasion simply by looking at those pictures. You might want to consider taking pictures at "open houses" when a real estate agent is showing off a home for sale--you shouldn't tell them that your pictures will be used for your own promotion; you should pretend that you looking for a home to buy and want your spouse/parents/roommate to see the pictures so maybe they'll also want to buy the house with you. At least those houses are empty and no one can be burgled or victimized.
  3. No. you shouldn't, it would be an invasion of privacy. Why not go to model homes and take pictures of those? Many model homes are totally furnished and decorated but no one lives there.
