Does anyone know a cool commercial building in Philadelphia?
So, I have to find a commercial building to recreate a model of for my Architectural Design class. The theme is downtown Philadelphia so it has to be located in Philly. I've searched tons of buildings but none of them seem detailed enough that I could have fun recreating them. The comcast center skyscraper, One liberty place, and second liberty place have already been taken unfortunately so I'm not allowed to do those. I definitely need a building that will stand out from the others and will be sure to get attention because these models are judged at the end of they year. Last year I won 3rd, so this year I'd like to do better. Please help me find a nice commercial building in Philly! No matter how crazy it may seem I don't care anything that would blow someone's mind away is great! Thanks for the help!

- Has anyone taken the classic Philly skyscraper of the mid-century, the Loews Hotel/PSFS building? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loews_Philadelphia_Hotel Some other hotels, the Double Tree, and Rittenhouse, with their 'sawtooth windows' face, the Hyatt at Penns Landing, or the St James apartment building. http://doubletree1.hilton.com/en_US/dt/hotel/PHLBLDT-Doubletree-Hotel-Philadelphia-Pennsylvania/photoGallery.do http://www.rittenhousehotel.com/guest_rooms_and_accommodations/guest_rooms.cfm http://www.emporis.com/application/?nav=building&lng=3&id=streetrittenhouse-philadelphia-pa-usa http://pennslanding.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels/index.jsp http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_St._James http://www.emporis.com/application/?nav=building&lng=3&id=134078

- The Cira Center or the PSFS would be the best, imho.
- I here what ur saying..the comcast and liberty buildings aren't really a challenge..just big...don't get me wrong I like all of them but great architecture shouldn't just be bigness or modernism but uniqueness and test of time...City hall has been long forgotten and was called a eye sore when completed the fact is it is still the standard of Philly with its founder atop...A replica made of of stone and copper would blow any styrene and plastic model away...another interesting building is the gothic style church..I believe it is a Mason church that sits across from Cityhall on the northeast corner of Broad st at Cityhall. Don't be predictable with ur design..
- The Divine Lorraine; a once beautiful hotel on Broad Street, that's now abandoned but the architecture is still there to see.
- The PECO building has been called one of the ugliest buildings in the city, howeve, as a model if you could do something to re-create those "crown lights" I bet that would look pretty cool.
- Sure, the Bourse Building. It has great architecture, great hisptory and it is a 're-birth'.http://www.bourse-pa.com/
