Need opinion on curtains for my living room, please?

I'm trying to remodel my living room. We have a small house, the LR is only appx 14x12. We have med-dark wood floors and are painting the walls white (summer shower by valspar). We just bought a big red sectional (not fire engine red, more like a faded red-orange leaning more towards red) I'm going to neutral accent colors, but I'm not sure about the curtains, there's only 1 large window in the room, which only allows natural light in in the evening because we have a covered front porch, so I dont want the fabric to be to dark or heavy as to allow as much light in as possible. So should I just go with white? or would that just be to much white in the room? Thank you so much in advance, I'm new to this interior design as this is our first home, and I've been googling pictures like crazy but cant find anything that screams at me for a smaller space.
