Learning about homes from 1950's?

I was working on a architectural project for which i need to design a modern house that looks like a home from the 1950s from the outside, can someone help me decide on what are some key features about homes of the 1950s.... thanks.... anything would help :D

1. Levittown was one of the largest 1950's style home sites developed at that time. Check the link to many images of the development for many ideas.
2. Back in the 50's my dad built most homes were of the ranch style. One floor level with a crawl space or basement. Land was cheap then. Regards, Dale
3. The "style" you're looking for is also called Mid Century Modern. There is still a lot of wiggle room in that classification. You'll see the classic ranch and some movement towards what we think of as modern architecture and everything in between.
