Are there any different ideologies or study principles for architectural design in different times?

is the study of architecture varied in different times ? I mean are there anything that is now acceptable but in the past wasn't ?

1. Yes, tons of things, due to to technology and modern building materials. Primitive buildings did not have curves beyond arches and domes, because ancient building materials and architecture were not able to conceive, much less make allowances for the structural stress on curves. Glass facades. Suspension Bridges. High rise skyscrapers. The list goes on...
