Architectural Designs

with a Civil/structural degree, is it possible to still be involved in pure architectural design?

With a ArchE degree or a Civil/structural degree, is it possible to still be involved in pure architectural design, or will I be limited to post aesthetic design? I'm very attracted to the salary of the CE degree which i'm half way through, but my heart lies with design, and would like to be able to pursue Architecture later on once i'm not a poor/very in-debt college student. By later on I mean 10 years down the road or so.

1. There are always opportunities for people that want to do architecture with a civil degree. However being a civil engineer myself i can tell you that you wont get very far unless you actually get at least one part of your architecture license.
