why does my house stay hot in winter?

I bought a house in the desert, so I planned on it being hot in the summer, but here it is 11pm nearly Thanksgiving, with an outside temperature of 50 degrees, and I have yet to use the heat. It's 77 degrees inside, the same as it was at noon. I actually had to turn the AC on for a few minutes to cool it to 75. Could this be just simply insulation that's too effective, or possibly a stroke, lol? Although I viewed the current temperature on the thermostat, and it read 77 degrees.

  1. Buy Heating?
  2. It may have to do with the composition of your house and its building materials. If your house is rock or stucco, maybe even brick..it will retain heat like a brick oven. Also if there is lots of cement around the house and drive way, it will work as a heat sink and retain the heat of the day. Normally if the roof area is vented and cool air vents the roof...then the house will be much cooler. Also planting grapes or other plants with a solar effect in mind...may help with these temperatures! Good Luck
