Is there a software program for drawing house plans which is basic?
I want to draw my own house plans, but all the CAD programs I have looked at are so complex I don't want to spend that much time getting up to speed on them. They are bloated. I am looking for a basic program. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

- I'd definitely recommend a Chief Architect program. It's very easy to pick up and learn how to use. I think Chief Architect VI is the most current version, but I could be wrong. There's a consumer version that costs somewhere in the ballpark of $60, and the difference from the professional edition printing capabilities. I want to say that with the basic version you can still print, but only in the standard computer paper size sheets. You would need the professional edition to print larger plans. Hope this helps!
- You can draw the plans, if you find something, but you can't have the house built. Only a "sealed" set of blueprints is legal. Draw up a floor plan, which you can do without any software, and take it to an architect. He/she has to draw the actual prints.
