- There are still a *lot* of engineering jobs in the US. In fact, some of the companies that tried farming engineering work overseas, are bringing certain elements of that back. Engineering jobs, in general, are on the increase, not the decrease, in the US, and it's one of the higher paying entry level jobs. Architecture is less in demand, and the entry level jobs pay less. A lot of graphic jobs are freelance. If you're interested, there are ways of combining art with engineering - especially in product design engineering, and in computer science/engineering (game design, user interface design, web design, etc.) You'd major in engineering, and focus your work on that specific field. You could also do a minor in art/design, to further enhance your skills in that area. There are lots of schools near your home that offer engineering and art and even architecture. You can check out the following. Note that, to be able to actually practice as an architect when you graduate, you must go to a NAAB accredited program, or else you'll need a master's degree. So in your area, the schools that are NAAB accredited are: - Pratt** - Yale** - CUNY City College - Cornell* - NYIT - NJIT - Rensselaer Polytechnic*** - Cooper Union*** - Syracuse U** A lot of those schools also offer engineering and art/graphic design. Those with the strongest engineering programs, I've given one star to. Those with very strong art programs, I've given two stars. Those with both strong art and strong engineering, I've given three stars.
- The jobs that are outsourced are those that can be done over the internet. The jobs that require your physical presence will never go overseas. The highest paying Bachelor's degree is Chemical Engineering. No way that can be done remotely. Graphic design can definitely be done remotely. Some architecture too I suppose.
