If I put a portable air conditioner at the end of hall, will it cool house?

I have a small house and I plan on having the vent from the bedroom window at the end of the hall with the portable air conditioner at the end of the hall (assuming I can get one that has an exhaust hose that is 5-7 feet long. If I have the doors throughout hallway closed, can it keep the living room and kitchen at other end of hall cool. The hallway is about 14 feet long. Small house.

1. It all depends on the BTU of the AC. If you have the AC then just hook it up and see if she works if your buying one then figure the square footage of area needed to be cooled and compare that to the BTU rating of the AC you plan on buying. Pretty simple.
2. You can find 50 dollar used window units in the want ads of the newspaper. A small one will add 35 dollars to your electric bill. A portable can only cool 400 sf or a couple of rooms so you need more btu's.
