can i building surveyor and still provide architectural design services on the side?

i finished my master in architecture and don't want to practice architecture because the nature of the job so i am switching over to become a building surveyor. so was wondering can i or is it common to be a building surveyor and still offer design services on the side? i am from Australia and my city is Perth.

1. I presume a surveyor examines details of construction and checks that an existing building will meet the requirements of the customer as well as making measurements. hat should make you a more functional architect which will be a big plus to some of your customers for building design, so I think the professions are very complimentary.
