Could anyone take a stab at how much it would cost to build this house?
http://www.eplans.com/farmhouse_house-plans/HWEPL07098.hwx Above is the link. It would be in the western portion of NC. I am looking for just a rough estimate. This is my fiance and my's dream house and we are in college but we are just curious. The materials would be custom ( mostly ) like cabinets and hardwoods. Excluding land and taxes. Does anyone have a guess. I have heard everything from 200k up to a million. Thanks!

- Home construction costs start at $100 for an unfurnished unit that is just an empty shell. To build that house, I'm guessing you will pay well over $250,000.
- At least 300 a square foot, the costs of materials is through the roof right now. You can NOT buy the materials for 100 a foot, let alone builf the place.
- Figuring a minimum of $100 per square foot, you have a bit over 3,100 square feet, so you are talking a base figure of $300,000. In some areas, you are probably talking minimum $125/square foot, which will jack up the costs. Adding in custom cabinets, hardwood floors will probably add another $25,000 to $50,000. Upgrade things like carpets, windows, etc. and you could be talking another $20,000. Add in a rough in basement and you have another $25,000. So, for a medium quality house with some upgrades, you are probably talking $450,000 to $500,000. Figure on a minimum salary combined of $125,000 to get the construction loan plus $90,000 to $100,000 cash for the down payment (construction loans usually require 20% down) Edit Just so you know, Myrtle Beach construction costs are $110 to $150 a square foot, but houses there do not have basements - North Carolina tends to have about the same costs (source - recent cost outs on new construction in Myrtle from actual builders)
