Which floor should the nursery be on?
FIRST, this is kind of what our house looks like (to kind of give you an idea of what you're working with.) http://www.google.com/imgres?q=colonial+house+plans&um=1&hl=en&sa=X&biw=1138&bih=499&tbm=isch&tbnid=JSeGiHVlRFyTlM:&imgrefurl=http://www.eplans.com/colonial-house-plans/dutch.hwx&docid=Aw6hESVsqL0uzM&w=375&h=319&ei=Du5mTtikFcnFgAeckuXdDA&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=181&vpy=124&dur=22&hovh=207&hovw=243&tx=153&ty=101&page=2&tbnh=155&tbnw=185&start=8&ndsp=8&ved=1t:429,r:4,s:8 On the main floor we have two bedrooms that are side-by-side, and in the larger bedroom on that floor is my and my husband's room. Then, on the second floor, there are two bedrooms and one bathroom. Since the ceilings are slanted in the rooms upstairs, our bedroom furniture doesn't fit because it's too tall, that's why we have our room downstairs right now. But, we weren't sure if we should move upstairs when the baby comes because the rooms up there are kind of bigger. Just something to think about. Any suggestions? ** and of course we want to be on the same floor as the baby. Thank you all in advance! (: I thought about getting new bedroom stuff but I am so in love with this suit; it's not even a year old yet. It's actually my first bedroom suit ever so I'm just so excited to have one haha.

- Stay on the main floor. Set up the nursery beside your bedroom. Then once your baby is older and doesn't need you so close by you can move the child's bedroom upstairs if you want to. By then you may choose to move your bedroom upstairs too. You could always get new furniture and keep your old stuff on the main floor as a guest room - if you can afford it. You could even do that now if you would rather be on the second floor.
- I always believe the nursery should be the closest room to where mom sleeps. As the child gets older you should move the child further away for your privacy. Also, from experience living in a 2 story with upstairs rooms, it is a huge PIA carting laundry toys and baby up and down the stairs all day long. I really wish we had main floor bedrooms we could use.
- Keep the bedroom as close to yours as possible. If any emergencies arise, you need to be able to take the baby with you for, a fire for example. Downstairs is best. If a fire happens, you can easily access the front door, get out windows without worrying about the baby falling, easy access to the kitchen if she get cranky, etc. When he gets older, he can move upstairs but until about age 6, he should stay by you for safety
