How can I decorate an Attic Bedroom?
Hey everyone! I am moving into a new house this weekend and need some help designing my new Attic bedroom. This is a photo of the bedroom: http://i56.tinypic.com/t8nrkw.png We are renting the house for now, so I can paint it, hang things, but nothing architectural, so I am in a pickle. My bedroom furniture is black, white and red, but I don't want my room to look dark and eerie, but modern and comfortable. I have a black sofa, a black twin sized bed ( I have a queen sized mattress but it doesn't have a frame). I have a black dresser, and that's about it. I am willing to spend some money on this. Also, you may notice the hangers around where the wall and ceiling meet, making the walls even narrower. Please help! I need some help. Again, I would like to modern and sophisticated. Especially, city themed. Hope you can all help! BTW: I AM A BOY - NO GIRLY COLORS/SPARKLES/ ECT.

- are u a freak or something lol black and red are goth colors wats wrong with u make it a sparkly and happy place to be!!!
- It would be nice to paint the walls with a pale or neutral color - Pale blue, light green, etc. Even a nice shade of brown would work. Try adding some modern floor lamps to brighten up the room and give a nice appeal. A big carpet rug that could be placed near your bed or door. ( any free space, and again, try matching colors along with other furniture & wall.) You could place your bed near the window, and add some nice curtains. Try to make your room detailed, and I'm sure it will look great! Paintings, decorations, and maybe a small little table will tie up your room and give your room more definition. don't feel scared to move around things & play around with your furniture. Hope I made sense & had given you some ideas! (:
- Your biggest issues: 1.The white textured ceiling. If you can smooth it down, that would be awesome. It's a job though. 2. The pegs on the wall. If you can't replace them with normal crown molding, then you'll have to get a little creative. 3. The glass flower shades on the fan. They gotta go. You can just remove the light kit - that would be best, or just replace the fan entirely with something more contemporary from Wal-Mart or Home Depot. (Don't trash the old one cause your landlord may want it to be replaced when you move) The easy part: 1. Get bamboo shades from Lowe's for your window. 2. Paint your ceiling 2 shades lighter than your walls. This will recede those sloping walls & create more volume to the space. Since you have beige carpet to work with, this will be your best option for color. Then I would paint the window wall red. 3. If you can't remove the pegs from the wall, go to Goodwill & get as many old black leather belts as you have pegs. Hang them on the pegs so that they hand straight down, creating a stripe effect on the walls. Fasten them at the bottom of the wall with upholstery tacks (you can get them at Wal-Mart) 4. Place the head of your bed at the window. Have 2 nightstands. Place your dresser on the wall to the left of the window. Place your sofa on the wall across from the tallest wall (yeah, the one with the pegs...watch your head) Then your TV can be on the other wall on a stand. Red throw pillows on the sofa. 5. I'm not sure what you mean about "city-themed", but I'm guessing contemporary. So I would get a contemporary area rug for under the bed that you'll place 3/4 up to the headboard & coming out from the foot of the bed. You'll get an 8x11, with the 11" end going crosswise to the bed. Then you'll get a coordinating one for the sofa/TV area. This will give you a splash of color. 6. You will need lighting over your nightstands & by your sofa, & you'll need end tables by your sofa. http://www.vcf.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&catalogId=10153&langId=-1&partNumber=1383086&N=4294966663+4294967163+88&Nao=6&Ns=P_Price%7c1&categoryId=4294967293&referrer=shelfPage http://www.vcf.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&catalogId=10153&langId=-1&partNumber=1256408&N=4294966699+4294967163+88&Nao=9&Ns=P_Price%7c1&categoryId=4294967256+0&referrer=shelfPage http://www.vcf.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&catalogId=10153&langId=-1&partNumber=1416529&N=4294967183+4294967163+88&Nao=5&Ns=P_Price%7c1&categoryId=4294967184&referrer=shelfPage http://www.vcf.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&catalogId=10153&langId=-1&partNumber=1009699&N=4294966704+0+4294967163&Nao=36&Ns=P_Price%7c1&categoryId=4294967210&referrer=shelfPage http://www.vcf.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&catalogId=10153&langId=-1&partNumber=1308025&N=4294966704+0+4294967163&Nao=42&Ns=P_Price%7c1&categoryId=4294967210&referrer=shelfPage http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&productId=100063498&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&MERCH=REC-_-product-2-_-100637543-_-100063498-_-N&locStoreNum=1273 http://www.lowes.com/pd_115244-978-LWWCDL3006096D_4294856885+4294776879+4294965700_4294937087_?productId=3365456&Ns=p_product_prd_lis_ord_nbr|0||p_product_quantity_sold|1&pl=1¤tURL=%2Fpl_Bamboo_4294856885%2B4294776879%2B4294965700_4294937087_%3FNs%3Dp_product_prd_lis_ord_nbr%7C0%7C%7Cp_product_quantity_sold%7C1&facetInfo=Bamboo|Natural roman shade http://www.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6E.aspx?GrpTyp=ENS&ItemID=18f782e&DeptID=71371&CatID=71679&SO=0&PCatID=71371&CatSel=4294933154%7cpattern&NOffset=2&Ne=949+4294957900+5+878+1007+1031+879+8+18+904&CatTyp=RLE&Dep=HOME+D%c3%89COR&N=4294933154&Pcat=HOME+D%c3%89COR&Cat=Rugs&Nao=65&PSO=0&bcCat=3&CmCatId=70749%7c71679&sa=1&CmCatId=70749|71679 http://www.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6E.aspx?GrpTyp=ENS&ItemID=1b97b13&DeptID=71371&CatID=71679&SO=0&PCatID=71371&CatSel=4294933154%7cpattern&NOffset=2&Ne=949+4294957900+5+878+1007+1031+879+8+18+904&CatTyp=RLE&Dep=HOME+D%c3%89COR&N=4294933154&Pcat=HOME+D%c3%89COR&Cat=Rugs&Nao=128&PSO=0&CmCatId=70749%7c71679&sa=1&CmCatId=70749|71679 The rugs will need a rug grip for a rug to carpetapplication. I would get a solid red bedspread. You will want to choose the red color for your window wall from the rugs, which will be your inspiration for the room.
