what is the standard color coding for office waste disposal in America?
I'm building an office waste disposal centre in Mexico City. The recycling or disposal in the office is limited to batteries, (employees are encouraged to bring in batteries used at home), paper and toners. I would like to add to the design the appropriate colours for each one of these category. Any one can help me? Thank you.

- The USA is not Mexico, and in the USA there is no officially sanctioned color coding of waste materials yet. I doubt in Mexico they have any sanctioned colors either considering they do not have nearly the level of environmental legislation the rest of the developed world has. But this does not mean you cannot apply your own. Or apply those used in Europe. Applying those used in europe might make more sense because of the stronger European ties in Mexico City. If I was tasked to come up with colors for material recycling sorting, Short of the Pantone pallette, I would simply choose colors ost associated with those items to be recycled. Black for ink and toner a medium darkYellow shade for batteries white for office paper tan for kraft paper gray for newsprint. red or blue for steel cans silver for aluminum cans and aluminum etc. These are only suggestions based on what color is most easily associated with each group.
