What kinds of things do you look for in a good architectural design?

I am a structural engineer major and I know we look for strength and low price but I was wondering what architects look for in their designs. Is it lighting, space, utility?

1. First off, does the space function well for all of its intended uses. Secondly, is the space accessable by wheel chair. With an aging population, having homes and other spaces become accessable is a huge priority. Then you look at aesthetics.
