How much does the Channel 4 TV show, Grand Designs, pay for filming building projects?

I am interested to know what percentage of the costs are payed by the programme. All the filmed projects are extremely ambitious. They all hit huge unforseen problems and go way over time and budget. Yet the amateur builders seem so unconcerned. Is this because they know they will be well covered by Channel 4 for any overspend. The disasters that occur are probably what makes them such interesting material for the programme drawing in huge numbers of viewers. Well worth paying a lot of money for I should think.

2. I can assure you, they would not be covered for any overspend by Channel 4!
