Autocad Revit?
I have two questions For those who are familair with this program, I would like to know what are the pros n cons of Using Autocad Revit FOR 3D RENDERING of building structures like homes and commercial buildings Also who are autocad Revit's competitors in the 3d rendering industry for structural design building.

- Honestly I prefure just to use Autocad for the floor plans and the elevations and details and the usual stuff but for 3D stuff I honestly prefure Sketch up 6 which you can download from the internet for free. AutoCad is a really great program even thou the price can be a lil high its well worth it when you actually learn how to use it all the way they have the 3D thing on the 2007 edition but its really hard to learn to use I'm still working on it.
- For the 1st question, AutoCAD and Revit are 2 separate programs which are from 1 source - Autodesk. Using AUtodesk Revit, has very little to deal wth 3D rendering but more so to create a more accurate and intelligent building. Intelligent in the sense that the program recognises walls, doors, windows, etc. as entities of the building and not jsut a bunch of lines. For the 2nd question, there are many packages for 3D imagery, 3D studio, MAYA, Rhino, Sketch Up etc.
- Once you learn the program it is very simple to create your building. The nice thing about it is once you draw your floor plans your elevations, sections, schedules, door/window tags, etc are already done. You also get a 3d model of your project. I have not done much rendering in revit but have seen rendered models and they look fine. It is possible to render on revit. I belive you can import to STudio max to render more complex models. There is also a program called Revit Structures which focuses more on the structure on the building. Autocad 2007 has much improvements on 3D and is an excellent program to use for rendering also. I have used this more for rendering. Sketchup is easy to use and effective for 3D models and can be imported/exported into CAD with the pro version.
