I need Rule of Thumb for the following.?
New to Electrical design in dubai , so it would be so useful for me for my career. 1. How to calculate the total electrical load for a Commercial, Residential Building , Hotel appts, including the AC load , I need it in KW/ Sq. Mtr or KW/ Sq. Ft. (if it would be in a break up also it will be so helpful, I mean for light, for power & for AC) 2. Design the lights as per the required lux level, i mean ie.the distance between 2 lights points in array (means length & width wise) to accure 100lux,200lux,400lux,1000 lux,1500lux etc. I think it would be so so helful if i could get this details in brief

- U will kill me by your question dear ...tooo tough !
- The electrical requirements change a lot with many factors. In Dubai you'll need more power for AC than in cooler places. Bigger buildings will have lower power/area requirements than smaller builings. Hotels are usualy most occupied at night, comercial during the day.
- i didn't understand ur question.....
- load calculations (1) lighting example hospital lobby 3 w/sqft (2) spacing = mounting height (3) electric heating 1 watt per cuft (4) room airconditioner = 30 btu/hr/sqft (5) bathroom ventilation CFM = (cuft * 8/60) (6) 1.5 A per outlet example : residential 1,500sqft at 3 w/sqft lighting = 4.5 kw two 20 a x 1500w appliance kitchen outlets = 3.0 kw laundry circuit = 1.5 kw range = 12 kw water heater = 2.5 kw dishwasher = 1.2 kw space heater = 9 kw clothes dryer = 4.5 kw total = 38.2 kw calculations ( always apply demand factor to the total calculated load) 1st 10 kw at 100% demand = 10 kw remainder at 40% demand = 28.2 * 0.4 = 11.28 kw for 120/240v service. 21,280 / 240 = 88 amp this house can be served by 100 amp service
