You can order a ready-made house from Germany (I saw it on Grand Designs once) - they will put it up in a few days, but it's very strong and will last forever. My personal favourite is a stawbale house (or any other bale for what it matters). You will save a lot of money with this building material, it's sustainable material, you can do a lot of designs, it's very pretty, it's warm, etc. I wuold love to be able to build one of them one day. Our friends are planning to build a new home and just bought house plans on-line. They were very pleased with this site because it had a manageable amount of house plans to look through.
