surprising my parents with new interior design ideas....need help...?

Okay so our house really needs some serious re-decorating and organizing. My parents and friends have always said that I have an eye for interior design. I want to create a portfolio and make a design plan for our whole house but i'm not sure how to go about making the correct porportions and draw it out. Anybody know of a good website or software that can help me do so? Or any good ideas for creating my portfolio and presentation?

1. If I were you, I'd start with graph paper. You might check out www.hgtv.com That may help. Good luck.
2. If oyu're going to create a portfolio or sample page, I suggest cutting out pictures of good ideas, and furiture you like. I suggest "West Elm" for a modern with an asian/artsy twist, or "pottery barn" for a homey classic look. I look at those magazines and websites the most. Good luck designing! I'm sure you'll be fine!
